Job Description

The Actuarial Life Practice is a part of the broader Actuarial Practice which strives to be the consulting partner of choice for clients and employees, and to be recognized as the premier life, annuity and LTC actuarial consultancy by fostering the power of ideas to lead our industry, consistently helping clients achieve their strategic objectives, and gaining trusted advisor status. Office/Regions available: Tokyo

The Actuarial Life Practice is expanding its reach into the Asia-Pacific region. The practice is seeking top talent in Japan and is opening a Manager position in its Tokyo office. The new Manager will have the exciting opportunity of helping to grow the Actuarial Asian Practice from the ground-up and will report to the practice leader in Japan. The Manager will be expected to contribute to a broad range of projects, including both Japan and US projects, and will play a key role in the sourcing and delivery of projects for Oliver Wyman’s clients, which include top tier insurance companies, reinsurance companies, investment banks, law firms, regulators, and private equity firms.

Potential projects and responsibilities may include:

Thought leadership, including oversight and/or creation of intellectual capital
Creation and analysis of financial projections
Insurance mergers & acquisitions
Capital markets transactions support
Life and annuity product development and financial reporting
Client and industry presentations, surveys, case studies
Work in partnership with our management consulting and strategy practice
Operating with a high degree of personal responsibility and accountability for the maintenance of a portfolio of clients
Pricing assumption and model methodology review, including benchmarking to applicable industry and peer experience
Development and maintenance of intellectual capital
Participate in client sales meetings


応募資格(必須経験など)

Skills and Attributes

Near-FSA/FIA/FIAJ to FSA/FIA/FIAJ or equivalent actuarial credentials with five to ten years of professional experience
Track record of rapid learning, high performance, and professional growth
Knowledgeable in Japan insurance regulations, such as SMR and ESR
Knowledgeable in local financial accounting such as IFRS-17
Proficiency of financial modeling systems (Prophet or Moody’s Analytics AXISTM preferred)
Strong written and oral communication skills
Excellent project management and time management skills
Ability to work independently
Understanding of the value of collaboration, and the ability to work effectively in a team setting
Deep critical-thinking skills and problem-solving ability
Highly motivated individual and willingness to work in a dynamic environment
Strong technical knowledge of MS Excel, MS Access or other database software, VBA or other programming languages
Strong skills with the Microsoft Office suite
