The Japan Marketing team in BlackRock sets the strategic direction and implements marketing plans for client business in Japan. It is the responsibility of this team to raise brand awareness and drive preference of our investment capabilities, including analyzing the return on investment to inform and evolve future activities.
About the role
BlackRock is seeking an investment content marketing expert within its Japan Marketing department who will drive commercial outcomes while bolstering the firm’s brand and reputation to contributing to business and marketing objectives. The content includes and is not limited to markets, thought leadership, products and solutions. Target audience ranges from institutions to intermediaries to end investor within Japan.
The position is to be based in Tokyo and reports to the Head of Japan Marketing locally and will work closely with various internal stakeholders and business partners in Japan as well as APAC.
A successful candidate will have solid understanding of the industry, products, and client needs, excellent writing and content marketing skills as well as a commercial focused mind to evaluate the activity to ensure the content is creating business impact.
Overview of Responsibility
Develop content and editorial strategy, conceptualize and author a range of economy /markets and investment-related marketing articles and collateral in partnership with Head of Wealth Japan, Head of Institutional Japan and their respective teams to position BlackRock as a premier provider of market insights.
Work closely with various stakeholders and business partners including sales, subject matter experts, Marketing, Corporate Communications and Compliance teams to plan and coordinate activities across the full range of marketing disciplines including digital, events, paid/owned media and co-marketing campaigns to drive short term revenue as well as long-term brand preference.
Introduce metrics on all communications/campaigns and report on efficiency and effectiveness.
Support Head of Japan Marketing and help manage, develop and execute firm wide marketing activities, take a leading role when appropriate.
Marketing and budget coordination for the assigned channels.
Coordinate with Global and Regional marketers.
Target
Experience/Qualifications/Skills
8-10+ years of investment/financial writing experience with demonstrated experience and success as a writer.
Solid knowledge of global macro economy, markets, investment strategies, and various investment topics, preferably within the investment management industry.
Primary language (speaking and writing) is Japanese while English language is essential when translating English materials into Japanese, and when liaising with the offices outside Japan.
Expert editorial skills, including the ability to write/adapt materials for various client types and levels of investment sophistication and to facilitate the transmission of complex ideas to non-technical audiences.
Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with flexibility in regards to changes in strategy and project plans.
Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage a large number of projects simultaneously (multi-tasking)
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact comfortably with senior executives, sales, portfolio managers and channel marketing managers.
Strategic and creative thinker with attention to detail.
Enthusiasm, self-direction; willingness to proactively take on tasks and make a contribution beyond the scope of own role.
