JOB DESCRIPTION
The Head of Commercial Bank International, Japan manages J.P. Morgan's overall relationships with the Japan based subsidiaries of Commercial Bank clients globally to understand their challenges and align solutions to address them. The Japan Commercial Bank International team helps our clients meet their objectives and challenges in working capital, cash management, Foreign Exchange and liquidity management. Clients benefit from dedicated coverage provided by the team, who deliver the firm's extensive product platform and presence in Japan.
This role leads a team of International Coverage Executives (ICEs) based in Tokyo covering subsidiaries of commercial bank clients. This position reports into the Head of Commercial Bank International, APAC and locally into the Head of Commercial Bank, Japan. The position is based in Tokyo, Japan.
Job responsibilities
Execute the overall strategy for the Japan Commercial Bank subsidiary client franchise including coverage model, revenue growth, new business origination, and optimizing client returns
Manage the team to deliver against financial targets including revenue growth, business promoter growth, closed new business, calling intensity and forward looking pipeline
Develop strategic account planning for targeted clients in close coordination with parent team and regional team including conducting comprehensive client analysis to identify business needs that align with J.P. Morgan's broad array of banking products
Promote thought leadership by highlighting emerging trends and potential opportunities and pursue internal and external education efforts for clients and bankers on relevant topics. Ensure the team gets information on competitor activity in the multinational space.
Build an optimized coverage model for the client franchise working and coordinating with the line of business partners such as Treasury Services, Foreign Exchange and other lines of business
Proactively develop talent management holistically including growth, mobility, and succession planning
Represent client files at local governance forums, and ensure individual and team compliance with all applicable regulations governing commercial banking activities and required training deliverables

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or business field. Master’s degree is preferred
Strong background in Treasury Services, and flow Foreign Exchange products with a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience. Familiarity with Credit is preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication with the ability to read, write and speak English and Japanese
Highest level of integrity and good judgement, with the ability to effectively deal with highly sensitive, confidential information
Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency and commitment, as well as a strong business sense with a strategic, conceptual and operational orientation
Strong commercial judgment and influencing abilities
Strong influencing skills and proven track record of managing cross cultural environments
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skill
Established network or experience with handling commercial bank client subsidiaries in Japan is preferred
