As a Barclays Analyst - Production Engineer, you will use a hybrid of development and operate skills to collaborate across disciplines, applying software engineering principles to eliminate repeated manual effort (Toil) and create automated, scalable, and reliable services. You will actively contribute key initiatives on Operational engineering, Observability engineering, Service Risk engineering and Resiliency engineering to ensure production stability and SLA adherence to our data consumers.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. What will you be doing?
Establishing engineering discipline within IB Front Office Risk & Pricing and data GTSM and drive the agenda throughout the department
Reducing MTTR throughout the department (Mean Time to Repair) and improve stability
Driving the adoption of Automation and role model how this can be used to drive efficiencies, consistency, reduce MTTR and achieve our objectives
Driving technical excellence and accountability/ownership of the full stack that makes up our services
Driving Full Stack Observability throughout the department and role model how this can be used to achieve our objectives and reduce MTTR
Building relationships with Business and Technology stakeholders to make improvement on stability and delivery of critical Business deliverables (SLA adherence)

What we’re looking for:
Practical experience of supporting and maintaining production environments with distributed systems and highly available services
IT Infrastructure components Knowledge (ex. Linux or Windows Server OS, MS SQL Oracle Databases, Networks, Load Balancers, Storage, middleware – solace and Tibco EMS)
Practical experience of Observability/Monitoring solutions (such as AppDynamics, Thousand Eyes, Splunk, ELK/elastic or similar)
Working knowledge of programming languages like Java, .net, python. Understanding of CI/CD Pipelines and Repositories, for example Jenkins and GitHub
Skills that will help you in the role:
Experience of working in either a SRE or DevOps model would be desirable
Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals
Working knowledge or understanding of Investment Banking and how different business work.
Knowledge of software skills such as design, development, maintenance, testing and software improvement
