Alternatives Specialists Overview

Alternatives Specialists Group within the Client Coverage Division (“CCD”) of DWS is a globally coordinated team based in 12 offices across 9 countries and currently stands at a strength of 40 staff. The Head of Alternatives Specialists in each region reports to the regional head with a global coordination supported by the Head of Strategy & COO, Alternatives Specialists, The Head of Alternatives Specialists, APAC reports to the Head of Client Coverage, APAC to deliver against our business plans for alternatives distribution and capital raise in the region.
Alternatives Specialists is the dedicated sales, distribution, and investor relations group within the CCD for the Alternatives asset class offerings structured and launched by the Product division and managed by the Investment Division. The Alternatives asset class offerings include Real Estate, Infrastructure, Private Debt, and Liquid Real Assets. The group works closely with the sales generalists and other specialized teams (such as Insurance, Client Relations, Institutional and Retail) within CCD to ensure the delivery of quality solutions to our clients who want to invest into Alternatives.

Your Key Responsibilities

The primary role of a Senior Alternatives Specialist based in Tokyo is to work closely with generalist sales professionals to drive business by raising capital from institutional investors and expanding the number of distributors approaching not only institutional but also retail investors. This professional will have a direct reporting line to the Head of Alternatives Specialists, APAC.
Coverage and distribution of alternatives products/strategies, including real estate, infrastructure, and private debt, to investors and distributors. The key client coverage market will be Japan but will be expected to communicate region-wide on a periodical basis to support driving business in APAC. Close cooperation with CCD teams in the region, e.g., via joint customer visits and contacts, as well as product training courses. Support organizing/coordinating sales activities, such as roadshows, portfolio manager meetings, and marketing documents.

Interface with various stakeholder groups within DWS, such as portfolio management, institutional and retail generalist sales, product development, product management, marketing, consultant relations, compliance. Communicate cross border and build productive working relationships.
Maintain close cooperation with CCD teams in the region, e.g., via joint client visits and contacts, as well as product training courses. Support organizing/coordinating sales activities, such as roadshows, portfolio manager meetings, market research sessions, and marketing documents.
Support the team in creating/updating marketing materials and other relevant information, a product strategy in the responsible segments and implementation.
Independent processing and support in the analysis of customer potentials as well as the support of product initiatives together with the respective portfolio management teams.
Provide presentations to management and internal and external clients
Integration into administrative sales and reporting processes (reporting, CRM processes, etc.)
Maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity; being an ambassador of our firm’s values


応募資格(必須経験など)

Your Skills & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in finance related fields, with a proven academic performance
Minimum 10 years of experience in sales or investment capacity with exposure to illiquid alternative products/strategies. Prior experience in private credit/debt would be a plus.
Professional Japanese and English skills in reading, writing and speaking
Ability to quickly learn and articulate alternative products/strategies
Prior experience in fund raising activities preparing, updating, and presenting marketing materials to potential investors
Built relationship with and worked with institutional client community such as pension funds, insurers, endowments, sovereign wealth funds, and asset managers
Prior experiences in fund raising activities preparing, updating, and presenting marketing materials to potential investors
Sales-oriented, highly self-motivated, and good time management skills
Strong team player with exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to build trust with internal and external stakeholders, with good communication and client-oriented mindset
Strong organizational skills, and attention to details in handling multiple projects
Strong networking, initiative thinking and strategic planning experience
Managerial skills to initiate and lead alternatives sales activities
