【Apple】Business Development Manager, Apple Pay - Japan

This role will have responsible for business development across all of Apple Pay’s payments partners in Japan and potentially other Asian markets:
- Help to develop the overall strategy for Apple Pay for Japan, making input into the direction of the business at all levels starting with the annual roadmap planning process.
- Engage with new partners from initial outreach, to negotiation of business terms, to detailed contract negotiation, to product launch and ongoing partner relationship management for a range of partners in existing and potentially new categories.
- Work with existing partners to develop marketing, promotional and other plans to drive Apple Pay active users and increase transactions per active user.

Key Qualifications
• Knowledge of business development, ideally having built relationships and negotiated sophisticated contracts with new and existing partners.
• Experience influencing external partners to drive sustained long term success of business partnerships.
• Knowledge of financial services, payments or Apple Pay specifically, or the capability to get up the learning curve quickly using past experiences.
Education & Experience
B.A./B.S. required, MBA preferred

- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (Japanese and English).
- A strong fact-based orientation, with a track record of using data and analysis to persuade others to support your ideas.
- Highly collaborative working style and open to direction; willing to work closely and effectively with internal and external teams.
- High level of motivation and tenacity, especially in building external partner agreement with large and sometimes challenging partners across the spectrum from the most traditional Japanese companies through innovative startups, ideally over long time horizons.
- Experience working through internal approval processes and building internal support in cross-functional settings, especially inspiring engineers to work on new projects.
- Genuine passion for world-class products and customer experience and a desire to drive adoption of new technologies to more users.
- Strong decision-making skills, presence and experience engaging with cross-functional teams in Japanese companies, especially the ability to establish credibility quickly and inspire change in sophisticated, traditional Japanese organizations.
HOW WE MEASURE SUCCESS
We measure the success of Apple Pay by the number of active users as well as their level of usage, and the percentage of customers with an eligible Apple device who are actively using Apple Pay.
