Equity Research
We are looking to hire an Analyst/Associate-level Economist in the Economics Research team to focus on Japan. This position involves working under the Chief Japan Economist to analyse the emerging economic trends/themes in the Japanese economy.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify emerging macro themes in Japan and its implications
- Analyze economic data and trends
- Conduct empirical research on a broad range of economic issues
- Construct econometric models such as leading indicators, nowcasting models
- Macro-modelling
- Help clients reach investment conclusions through fundamental data analysis & support
- Work seamlessly with global colleagues in research, sales, and trading; contribute Japan content to global reports.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong academic background in Economics (MSc/MA in Economics or above preferred with strong interest to build a career in economics)
- 1-5 years working experience, preferably in macro research
- Critical thinker with high level of intellectual curiosity
- High level of initiative
- Strong problem-solving skills in unstructured and stressful situations
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal as well as written; Preferably effectively bilingual in Japanese/English ((1) native Japanese/English, (2) native Japanese + proficient/fluent English, or (3) native English with fluent Japanese)
- Collaborative, Team-player
