The Japan Surveillance Team is responsible for identifying and escalating instances of market abuse and any other activity that adversely impacts financial markets for the APAC Private Bank (“PB”) and Investment Bank (“IB”). Your responsibility includes:
• Provide accurate review of Level One trade surveillance alerts before passing on to the Floor Surveillance Officers (“FSO”), ensuring timely raising of cases
• Conduct and document monitoring reviews and raising of potential red flags for further investigation.
• Improve the efficiency and effectiveness of existing surveillance methodology to ensure that surveillance programs are robust and up-to-date
• Be coordinated with broader Surveillance team within Japan as well as across the region
• Establish the surveillance methodology for new monitoring topics in response to partners’ requirements
• Engage with supervisors to fully understand the Supervisory Risk and Control Frameworks
• Daily engagement with FSOs to ensure tight-knit collaboration and the ability to learn from their experience and expertise.

You are expected to possess the below skills:
Your proven work experience in either surveillance, trading or investigative roles is beneficial
You have a deep understanding of all asset classes and core products traded in the banking industry
You have good knowledge of relevant regulatory and market conduct rules and other related regulations
Knowledge of surveillance systems such as Actimize, SMARTS, One Tick etc. is beneficial
You are phenomenal team mate, dedicated and possess a sense of ownership and accountability in following through on existing issues and cases
You have strong communication and interpersonal skills
You have proven analytical skills and eye for details
You possess expert level Microsoft Office skills
Effective use of Japanese and English
You are passionate about the role, and have the ability to challenge and build positive relationships
