Job Description
The Tax Client Support team is a function within operational tax that has been developed to provide an end to end, client tailored tax support model for premier clients. The team focuses on proactive client facing tax support, tax strategy and tax risk management whilst ensuring that J.P. Morgan has a voice at market industry forums.
The Tax Client Support team will own support for several premier clients and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Delivery of the Tax Service to support Securities Services Custody business
• Centralized point of contact for all complex and technical tax issues to support our client’s tax servicing needs
• Have a good understanding of the client’s business, structure and tax strategy to ensure all entitled tax benefits are received in order to maximise tax efficiency
• Pro-active management of client relationships
• Execute forward thinking to maintain response quality and completeness to prevent case reopening
• Contribute to the tax component of service reviews and other meetings with the client
• Provide input on any tax-related product or other change requests
• Support and guidance on
o Outstanding/expiring tax documentation
o Documentation
o Relief at Source
o Retrospective Reclaims
o Capital Gains Tax
o Financial Transaction Tax
o Tax Regulatory Reporting
• Ensure close collaboration with the Sub Custodian network and the internal Network Management Group
• Receipt and management of client tax documentation, including, as needed, onward distribution to internal teams to ensure the efficient set-up within internal systems
• Analyse root-cause of recurring issues through regular review of metrics, and assist in developing programmes for service enhancements arising from these figures
• Continually review operational tax processes to identify areas for enhancement
• Identify and escalate tax risks and participate in resolution
• Assist in client tax account reviews and ad-hoc projects across the wider Tax Operations team
• Attend relevant forums to represent client tax related matters

Qualifications:

• You must have working experience in financial sectors, accounting firms or other professional institutions
• You must be able to discuss experience of client service and relationship management communicating complex issues with internal and external stakeholders.
• You must be able to demonstrate your in-depth operational tax experience within financial services, specifically global custody or investment banking.
• You will be able to give examples of your successful internal and external communication and problem-solving experience
• You will be able to give examples of your risk awareness and operational control experience
• You will be able to discuss your process improvement experience, where you clearly articulate ideas, concepts and procedural changes to clients
• You must be self driven and able to work autonomously
• You will have proven experience within an arena where accuracy is critical within strict deadlines
• Strong data management skills will be considered to be an advantage
• You must be able to demonstrate high emotional intelligence, with sound networking and influencing skills to help the Client Tax Operations Utility be effective
• It is a plus if you have understanding of custodian business or have tax background
• Native Japanese skills/ Business level English skills
