As Local Software Engineer, you will wear multiple hats; as a software developer in charge of application including its infrastructure, as well as banking domain expert working with vendors and internal governance teams.
• This role requires a strong grasp of the big-picture – namely, how can technology help achieve business goals – as well as a keen ability to establish priorities, manage resources and budgets, and build and incentivize high-performing teams.
• Manage complex technology work that have far-reaching implications for clients, employees, and stakeholders throughout the firm.
• Be an application owner for local platforms and support day-to-day technology related matter for Payments business and key external partners (regulatory bodies, partner banks, and vendors)
• Support the availability and stability of the technology infrastructure where required.
• Just as importantly, you'll work with your team to set goals, foster collaboration, and promote the values, culture, and brand of JPMorgan Chase & Co.

This role requires a wide range of strengths and capabilities, including:
• Native level written and verbal communication in Japanese as the successful candidate will be managing external / internal stakeholders in the Japan market. Also, strong proficiency the English both written and verbal is required, as the candidate is required to work with global teams where English is the predominant working language.
• At least 5 years of experience of related experiences such as:
o Development of both web and daemon applications in Java targeting Linux, using popular frameworks such as Spring Boot and tools such as Maven, Git and Jenkins
o Shell scripting and web front-end development in JavaScript/CSS/HTML
o Development and support of applications that use most or all of the following: IBM MQ/HTTP Server/WebSphere Application Server, Oracle Database, Apache HTTP Server/Tomcat
o Support initial roll-out and ongoing maintenance of complex application systems comprised of both bespoke and off-the-shelf application software from various vendors, including collaboration with vendors and in-house infrastructure teams to set up or troubleshoot network connectivity, firewall, operating systems, web/application servers, database and other middleware
• Waterfall and agile development methodologies
• Excellent problem solving skills under pressure
• Strong experience in financial services, with a sound understanding of Transaction Banking and/or related businesses
• Ability to create and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders throughout the firm – locally, regionally, and globally.
Key Competencies, Skills and Traits are as following:
• Strong collaborator with ability to foster relationships effectively with diverse groups across geographies
• Good Knowledge and experience of the Japan Transaction banking market and core infrastructure (Zengin – Core&More/FXYCS/Togo ATM/ANSER/Swift MT/ISO20022 etc)
• Various cloud technologies and platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry and AWS
• Modern web front-end frameworks such as Angular or React, and older web framework such as Struts
• Strong understanding of overall technology – both HW/SW, Database, Linux, Windows, Virtualization, Cloud, network concepts etc.
• NoSQL database such as Apache Cassandra or Amazon DynamoDB
• Apache Kafka, Apache Struts
• Development in C/C++, Node and Python
• Confident and organized with strong reasoning and influencing skills
• Self-starter with initiative, accountability, and ability to work independently as well as collaborate with the team
• Good interpersonal skills and stakeholder management expertise
• Adaptable and able to multi-task
