Purpose of your role
The purpose of your role is to increase our capacity and further enhance quality of engagement to meet growing client demands domestically and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Head of Engagement and Director of Engagement in the preparation of the Engagement meetings from analyzing key issues of investee companies to reporting.
With direction of the Head of Engagement, manage the internal communications within FIL (not only in Tokyo Office) between the Investment and Distribution teams
Support in creating an engagement facts log
Prepare both regular and ad-hoc reporting and commentary editing, showcasing the best of Fidelity
Analyze new reporting requirement and arrange the new format and feasibility study to deliver best in class output
Articulate our engagement activities in Japanese/English reporting
Attend client meetings with Sales when necessary
Collaborate with Marketing team to create an effective brochure to introduce our ESG capabilities to public
Support additional client reporting / administration needs as required

Experience and Qualifications Required
Experience as an analyst and expertise in accounting and valuation
A deep knowledge of markets and be able to quickly gain an understanding of capital markets.
A strong knowledge of the Stewardship Code, the Corporate Governance Code, the Companies Act, other relevant Acts, accounting standards and corporate disclosure rules and guidelines
The position requires strong project-management skills and the ability to solve problems creatively. For example, the engagement process is a cumbersome, step-intensive procedure
Self-starter - shows initiative
Solid analysis skills and superior writing ability in Japanese; legal drafting experience desired, but not essential.
Attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure
In-depth knowledge of the mechanics relating to the platforms and procedures associated with submitting shareholder votes
Ability to understand business model of companies
Knowledge about valuation methodology of companies
Knowledge about ESG and SDGs
Passion to learn new global trend of ESG
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial service industry
Excellent report writing skill in Japanese and English
Strong communication skills; Team player with an ability to communicate effectively at all levels, with good rapport building skills
Understanding of the asset management industry and relevant knowledge of investment process, institutional client services and regulations governing asset management is preferable
Ability to be flexible, follow tight deadlines, organize and prioritize work
Preferably degree educated
