Our team is seeking an experienced Environmental Specialist who will support the Amazon Logistics (AMZL) operations in Japan. This role is responsible for providing technical support, tactical execution and delivering a strategy for future expansion in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment across multiple facilities within a defined a region of Japan. This role will be based at an operations or office location locally and will report directly to JP Environmental Leader into the Amazon Worldwide Environmental Assurance & Protection (EAP) Field Operations team. The Regional Environmental Specialist will partner and collaborate with the AMZL operations leadership team and site teams to execute company environmental procedures and programs at their sites and ensure compliance with all applicable specific National and Prefectural regulations. Utilizing risk assessments and compliance evaluations, this individual will lead continuous improvement initiatives to minimize environmental aspects and impacts and communicate and implement best practices.

The Regional Environmental Specialist must be an effective communicator in both English & Japanese and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. The Regional Environmental Specialist must possess proficiency in program and environmental regulatory knowledge and demonstrate this expertise when working with teams throughout the AMZL operations.

Regional Environmental Specialist Responsibilities:
1. Possess a thorough understanding of National, Prefecture and Local Environmental Laws and Regulations to manage and execute multi-site responsibilities to comply with air emissions, stormwater, waste, wastewater and other environmental related laws, regulations and permits and notifications in Japan, which include National and Local Reporting (as needed)
2. Manage business conformance with Amazon Environmental policies through effective execution of Amazon Japan Operational Environmental Procedures and support to right size the programs based on the business needs. Partner with and train site teams to guide on site-level implementation and execution of these programs.
3. Monitor and provide guidance on site performance against applicable environmental regulations, programs and Amazon global policies. For all deficiencies, identify a plan to implement and fix deficiencies
4. Analyze environmental metrics and review weekly and monthly trends to determine where improvements are needed and appropriate allocation of resources are needed to manage business risks
5. Build collaborative relationships with various stakeholders across the AMZL business to ensure environmental risks are identified early and managed in a timely manner.
6. Provide strategic environmental support and regulatory review for future AMZL business growth and expansion. Partner with operations, special projects and support teams in supporting the change management process
7. Establish project milestones for plan development and environmental permitting at new launch locations or site expansion, including the Environmental Program Assessments (EPAs), and oversee work performed by relevant contractors and consultants
8. Assist sites in undertaking risk assessments, audits, raising compliance calendar tasks related to regulatory requirements and Amazon Programs, inspections, recordkeeping, and actions plan development for any deficiencies noted from trends, audits and inspections. Identify and implement corrective actions to eliminate any observed non-compliance or potential non-compliance situations
9. Facilitate root cause analyses for all environmental incidents and recommend appropriate corrective actions for network implementation
10. Ensure equipment that requires environmental preventative maintenance (PM) is appropriately logged and tracked

応募資格(必須経験など)

基本条件
- A completed Bachelor’s Degree
- 4+ years of experience serving as an environmental technical resource, program specialist, or program manager
- In depth knowledge of Japan National environmental regulations
- Experience in managing environmental programs for air, waste, wastewater, etc.
- Experience in engaging with Regulatory Authorities
- Experience in managing change in multiple site environments
- Business level of English & Japanese

歓迎条件
- Bachelors or Advanced degree or professional certification in Environmental or EHS or chemical or biology related field of study
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Japanese
- ISO 14001 or equivalent auditing experience is preferred
- Experience managing multiple site environments (also remotely) and the ability to influence peers and superiors
- Experience in logistics is preferred
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability
- Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and the use of pivot tables and the development of charts and graphics
- Excited about working in a diverse group and contributing to an inclusive culture
