Stanford MBA Application Deadlines | View Official Deadlines

Stanford MBA applications are accepted in three rounds between September 2025 and April 2026. The official deadline for each round is 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Applicants submitting from abroad should be mindful of the time zone difference.

・Round 1: Deadline September 9, 2025
・Round 2: Deadline January 7, 2026
・Round 3: Deadline April 7, 2026

All application materials, including recommendation letters, essays, and payment, must be completed by the deadline for your chosen round. Late submissions or modifications after the deadline will not be accepted.

Applicants may only apply once per academic year. Deferred enrollment is allowed in any round. Admission decisions are announced online on the notification dates for each round, and confirmation is also sent via email. Early decision requests or in-person notifications are not accommodated.

Application Requirements | Applying to the MBA Program

Stanford's MBA application process emphasizes not only what you have done, but who you are, what you value, and where you are going. The admissions committee evaluates your character and commitment across every part of the application.

Education

List your academic background and describe your learning journey. If you have conducted independent research or have noteworthy academic experiences, you can provide additional context in the "Additional Information" section.

Test Scores

You must submit either a GMAT or GRE score. In addition, applicants whose native language is not English must also submit a valid English language proficiency test score, such as the TOEFL.

Personal Information, Activities, and Awards

This section allows you to introduce yourself and highlight past activities and awards that showcase your character, interests, and passions.

Professional Experience

In addition to uploading your resume, describe your professional history—your roles, accomplishments, and team contributions. Avoid simply listing responsibilities; instead, explain how each experience has shaped your values and perspective.

Letters of Recommendation

Two letters of recommendation are required. Ideally, these should be from individuals who have directly supervised your work and can comment on your contributions and leadership.

Essays

The personal essays are a cornerstone of the Stanford MBA application. There are two required questions:

1. What matters most to you, and why?
Up to 650 words. This essay should explore your core values and formative experiences—what truly drives you, and why.

2. Why Stanford for you?
Up to 350 words. Explain how your career goals align with Stanford GSB, and how the program will help you achieve them.

・Applicants to both the MBA and MSx programs must also answer the question: "How will you enhance the MSx community?"

Additional Materials

You may choose to answer an "Optional Short Answer Question" if you wish to share additional insights. The "Additional Information" section is also available to explain any special circumstances, such as gaps in education, low grades, missing test scores, or why you selected a particular recommender. Keep this section brief and focused.

Application Fee

The application fee is $275. Fee waivers are available for eligible applicants based on financial need or other qualifying criteria.
